THE WILDERNESS CALLING CONSERVATION INITIATIVE

To study and safeguard wild fish populations and habitats in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

WHO WE ARE

The Wilderness Calling Conservation Initiative (TWCCI) is a conservation organization rooted in the Pacific Northwest, United States, dedicated to preserving wild fish populations and safeguarding critical habitats in Oregon’s Northwest Coast Zone and beyond. United by a shared mission to research, protect, and advocate for the creatures that inhabit our watersheds, our team brings expertise across fields including guiding, business, and fisheries biology. Driven by a deep commitment to education, preservation, and legacy, we aim to inspire lasting change to benefit all life within these vital ecosystems.

Tagging Study

As many are aware, there has been a large decline in the populations of Wild Steelhead. The aim of this project is to tag and track Kelts (re-returning steelhead,) using cutting edge satellite tags, along Oregon’s coastal rivers. This will provide scientists insights into the life cycles of these fish allowing better understanding of what we can do to protect them. Are the dead zones off the coast responsible for the decline or is it over fishing? Maybe it’s dams? We won’t know until we get a grasp on where these fish go in the ocean. We strive to learn about these amazing creatures, their environments, backed through education and science. Join us on a journey of discovery!
